Frequently asked questions
How is my retirement date calculated?
Your retirement date is your date of birth plus your chosen retirement age in years. For example, born on 12 September 1982 with a retirement age of 60, your retirement date is 12 September 2042. If you were born on 29 February, the date falls on 28 February in non-leap years.
What retirement age should I choose?
Retirement age is different in every country and every pension scheme, so choose the age that applies to you — your employer’s retirement age, your pension plan’s age, or simply the age you personally aim for.
Is this a pension calculator?
No. This tool counts time only — it does not tell you what your pension is worth or whether you can afford to retire. It tells you how much time is left until the date you choose.
Do the weekday counts include public holidays?
No. Weekdays are Monday to Friday and weekends are Saturday and Sunday. Public holidays are not taken off, so treat the weekday figure as a close estimate.
What if I am already past my retirement age?
The calculator will tell you that you have already reached your chosen retirement age, and show how long ago that date was.
Is my date of birth stored or shared?
